Stay Glowing In Winter | Skincare Tips

Winter is here which means that summer glow is gone! Colder, crispier weather can leave your skin dry and dull. I’ve got some AMAZING tips for you to keep up that summer glow, even in the winter!

Use Hyaluronic Acid

Cold weather, long hot showers and central heating can take a lot of moisture out of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is the perfect solution for the dry winter season, it’s a humectant which means it retains and preserves moisture; it does this by drawing water from the deeper layers of your skin into the more superficial layers and deeply hydrates your skin.

Simply-pure

I am currently using Superdrug ‘Simply Pure Rich Emulsion Moisturiser’ which contains Hyaluronic Acid in it, it’s only £4.99 and it has honestly been amazing for me so far – don’t bother with the expensive ones, it’s a con – they all work the same.

Face Oil Overnight

Sounds like a disaster because oil is seen as ‘greasy’ but it honestly does wonders for the skin.

Coconut-oil

Coconut oil is cheap, it’s not greasy and it does amazing things! Before you sleep cleanse your face (we’ll get to my recommended cleaner below) and moisturise with coconut oil – this locks in the moisture without leaving you with a greasy feeling and you wake up with a natural glow. Coconut oil is amazing for the skin and keeping spots away. Of course, it varies between people, but it has always worked wonders on me and I highly recommend it.

Regularly Apply Eye Cream

Whenever winter comes, dark and puffy eyes seem to follow, no matter how much sleep you get – annoying right? But one thing I found to help with this is eye cream.

eyecream

I’ve been trying out Superdrug’s ‘Vitamin E Eye Cream’ and so far it’s great, it keeps my dark circles at bay. I also use eye patches to help with my puffy eyes, I suffer from this quite frequently and especially in winter.
Superdrug ‘Refreshing Hydrogel Eye Patches’ are honestly amazing for puffiness and they brighten the eyes too.

Avoid Wipes – Use cleanser instead

They’re so much easier to use and especially after a night out, but cleansing/makeup wipes wipes don’t effectively clean the skin, they smear dirt, bacteria, oil and makeup all over your face.

A lot of makeup wipes also irritate the skin, since you aren’t rinsing the active ingredients in the wipes that are smeared all over your face, you leave your skin exposed to so many chemicals. Some wipes even contain alcohol which can cause stinging and is very drying – not the best for your skin and especially in winter!

Nivea

Use a hydrating cleanser instead, I like to use ‘Nivea Micellar Water’ with a cotton pad, rinse my face & then apply ‘Nivea Purifying Toner’. It gets all the makeup off my face, doesn’t irritate or dry my skin & also keeps it hydrated.

Exfoliate regularly

We all know about this one, but does anyone else keep forgetting or gets too lazy to do it when you’re so busy? Yeah, I do too! But it’s super important to do, exfoliating removes dullness and flaking caused by dead skin cells and you definitely want to get rid of those – especially in winter!

exfoliating-daily-wash

I use an exfoliating kit from eBay   (Exfoliating kit), which is honestly no different to the expensive you can get. Once again – it’s a con! I use it with my all-time favourite, ‘Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash’, I try to exfoliate at least once a week  but also never more than twice a week – over-exfoliating does exist.

I hope these tips have helped you out this winter, let me know how you find them and if there are any tips I should know about?

Glow On A Budget

Hello my beauties, I’m super excited to be doing my first beauty blog post, and I hope you are too because I know you’ll love this!

So I know every girl out there loves a poppin’ highlight, but sometimes they can be pretty pricey and it’s easy to assume the higher the price the better the highlight right?.. WRONG.

Your highlight can slay to the gods for as little as £2.49!! Here are my top 4 favourite highlighters that can get you glowing on a budget.

Technic Highlighting Powder: 24CT GOLD

It really speaks for itself, 24CT GOLD!! Poppin to the gawds. This ‘Technic’ highlighter is £2.49 from eBay (Seller: viola_uk).

MUA Shimmer Highlighter: Golden Scintillation

P1000872P1000889

This MUA highlighter is a lot brighter, at first look I didn’t think it would look right on chocolate skin, but I absolutely love the glow it gives. It gives a very similar glow to Fenty Beauty’s ‘Trophy Wife’ at an amazing price of £3 from Superdrug.

Revolution Strobe Highlighter: Rejuvenate

P1000895

P1000904

Revolution’s ‘Rejuvenate’ gives a very subtle highlight with darker tones, not as golden as the other two, but it’s perfect for an everyday casual makeup look. Only £3 also from Superdrug.

Technic: Pink Sparkle

P1000916P1000926

A very subtle pink highlight, I wish there was a picture of my face when I first opened it, it’s so bright! Almost looks like a white powder, I thought there was no way it would look right but I was pleasantly surprised by Pink Sparkle (£2.49 on eBay from viola_uk).

Let me know what you think of these highlighters & if you have any that that give you a perfect glow on a budget! If you aren’t already, make sure you follow or subscribe.
